Speedy delivery, always great standard

The quality has plummeted. It used to be decent, but now it's no better than a fast-food take-out place north of 125th St. The Pad Thai was especially awful. After eating the chicken udon noodle soup, I had a raging migraine for 48 hours. Not sure if it was MSG poisoning.

Good clean and quality every time I love this place. Not crazy about the vegetable tempura just bland to me expected better vegetables to be chosen lately orders are not correct call but never corrected

10% gratuity, Jennifer H? Really? Presume you're tipping your server for "just getting the food to you", do you tip your server 10%? Don't play the "Seamless suggested" card.. they don't suggest anything. You are so dumb it's unbelievable. It would've been better if you were cheap.
Anyway, this restaurant is pretty dope. Arguably more fresh than some of the more expensive places downtown. Eat at the sushi bar and they fellas will fix you up something on the house.. you should tip them regardless. Order online and they're also pretty good. I usually tip online, but have never had to wait longer than 40 minutes for delivery. I only order Sushi Entrees from the Bar.

Quality sushi at a fair price. Get the 3 roll lunch special or dinner roll combo. Best price for a college student on a budget. Although, I don't suggest eating there because the servers are pretty rude.
Posted 3 months ago by Jacqueline T.
I'm giving 1 star only because of the attitude I JUST received from the delivery guy who did not like that I gave a $2.00 gratuity (that means tip) on a $20.00 meal because he had to travel to my apartment. I think 10% is decent. It was suggested by Seamless when I went to place my order and all he had to do was get the food to me. No other service. I've never had a delivery guy tell me that my tip was not to his liking, but this guy felt it necessary. So I now feel it necessary to rate the place so poorly. Because of the delivery guy. I've ordered from them in the past & like the food, but I will think twice before doing so again because I'm offended.

Love Nikko! Always fresh and yummy sushi, the Agadashi tofu arrives warm and good, the Mango Sweet roll is just Devine, the asparagus and avocado go perfectly with the mango on top and the mango mayo, the shrimp tempura and spicy tuna are recommended as well, and they have great vegetarian options!

I've ordered from here >5 times and ate at the restaurant twice now. The food has always been delicious and consistent. It's a tad bit pricier than most places but worth it for the consistency and taste. I've asked to have a few dishes 'spicy' and they do a great job turning it up. My faves: nikko rangoon, jap fried rice, spicy rolls combo, panang curry, pad siew noodles, pad thai. I live on 129th and st nich and they usually get here fast, about 20 mins which is so much better than other places. I highly like and recommend!

Unfortunately, they did not complete my order as requested and when I called were not helpful in remedying the situation. I have ordered from them NUMEROUS times in the past and been satisfied. I am sorry they were so uninterested in keeping a customer.

LOVE the food....even though it's slightly overpriced. I regularly eat here, and was thrilled to see they deliver to me now. However, the delivery guy is SO rude. He doesn't even say hello but instead shoves my bill in my face and proceeds to be a complete a**. Berated me about the tip and said he "came so far" yet he pulled up on a motorized bike....it should be illegal for delivery guys to ask for more money at the door. I don't appreciate it and find it incredibly rude and unprofessional. Not to mention it spoils the dinner I'm about to have....food is 4 stars, delivery is a solid ZERO, For the price they charge, Nikko really needs to get staff with good customer service and who are polite.

I'm a cook so i try and write reviews when a place is actually good. Ordered from here twice. Both times pretty damn good.
Sushi is really good. Fresh fish. Nicely made. Albacore, yellowtail and tuna were all delicious. Eel was a bit soggy- but that's too be expected when delivered.
Sweet potato roll was simple and delicious. Really well made. But it comes with a sauce drizzled on top. Get it on the side.
Wonton soup is a little above standard. Good wonton filling and nice amount of bok Choy.
The real winner is the Japanese fried rice. No need to add soy sauce, either! Small diced zucchini, sautéed shallots and shiitake mushrooms. Really well seasoned!

Nikko is generally reliable. That said, I would advise against ordering the fatty tuna for delivery (as you're unable to verify its freshness). My recent order of a fatty tuna hand roll ($12) upset my stomach. In hindsight, I shouldn't have taken a single bite. The tuna was grey and chopped to a fine dice, perhaps in the effort to mask the fact that it was rotting. Also, if you can help it, do not order hot food and sushi together. The hot food will warm the sushi to an unappetizing sliminess.

The crab Shumai are absolutely delicious. Popcorn shrimp was good, larger serving than expected and came with tasty spicy aioli. The steamed chicken and broccoli was average but satisfying for sure. At $35.00, it was overpriced but some nights I'd rather pay up than have greasy chinese from the corner.4/5 for price only, food and service merit 5 stars.

Can't say I'll be in too big a hurry to order from here again. Was looking for something to come faster than where I usually order (Asia Kan)- it came faster, but the quality left a lot to be desired. I asked for no onions, and you'd think I asked for extra, there were SO many. There were hardly any other veggies and the meat was really fatty. The miso soup was just ok. If I'm ever again in a rush, I mayyyy try something else on the menu, but never again the "basil chicken" (which also btw, had very little basil).

They delivered within the time frame which made me really happy. I ordered pad thai and edemame, the pad that really wasn't very good. The potion was large but there wasn't great flavor to it. Probably won't order Thai food from here again, I might try something else. P.S. $20 for the order.....pretty pricey.

I frequent Nikko almost everyday. Fabulous food! Very fresh and a HUGE variety. Best hibachi on earth! I usually pick up and the manager is so amazing! So kind and really works to fix any mistake. What an amazing man! ORDER FROM NIKKO.
Posted 10 months ago by Ali W.
Hibachi veg side is a sauteed veg side...not hibachi. I asked them to fix it and they sent the same thing again. Fail!! Hibachi shrimp side for $9 is 6 shrimp. Chicken ramen noodles are bland and long strips of chicken make it impossible to eat without a knife. An order of chicken roman, side of wrong veg and side of shrimp $30...for takeout that took an hour to deliver and and an additional half hour to fix.

Rude delivery people?? Pfft not true at all the guy who came to me was very nice!
Now, the food...ohh emm gee, the reviewer who said the fried rice was "simple yet AMAZING" was not kidding. The Japanese fried rice with shrimp didn't even use soy sauce! And not greasy, also REAL HUGE shrimp! Wonton soup was deelish too! I most certainly will be ordering again

I wish they had provided the contents of their miso ramen on their menu because without any description, I presumed there was no meat. There is and so its not ideal for vegetarians. In general though, broth is good with a good amount of veggies. I also ordered the avocado rolls and they were excellent.
Posted 10 months ago by Mariah C.
I will not order from here again, and I recommend that you avoid it as well. I ordered the vegetable sushi combo. It is seven pieces of vegetable sushi and a roll, plus your typical tiny salad with ginger dressing. Delivery took about an hour to get here. When I opened the door, the delivery person thrust a paper bag at me and bounded down the stairs. I wondered what his hurry was was, and when I pulled the containers out of the bag, I understood. The salad container was intact, but the platter holding the sushi combo had come unsealed and the contents had basically become a ball of rice with some vegetable slices and mushy avocado mixed in. It looked as if the delivery person had given the bag a good shake before ringing the doorbell. Even the wasabi and ginger were mixed in. It was pretty terrible and definitely not worth the $20 (including tax and tip). I called the restaurant to file a complaint, and they of course could not have cared less. I spoke with a woman, and then a man, who told me he would have to send someone back to pick up the food. I told him to have the owner call me - that was two hours ago. Needless to say, I will not order from here again. Do yourself a favor and order from TenZan instead; their vegetable sushi combo is delicious, and always arrives intact. And without poor customer service.

Very delicious! And fast! We ordered the Orange Cuisine (its orange chicken + rice + salad or miso) and drunken noddles. Both were great and more than enough for two people. Full of flavor and no need for soy sauce. The orange chicken had a zesty kick that I loved. We will definitely be ordering from here again!

Drunken noodles were delicious. Seafood salad was pretty good too. Miso soup was standard. Both the noodles and soup were piping hot when they arrived. Salad was separated by a piece of cardboard so it didn't cook on the ride over. Delivery time was just what they said it would be, apprx. 40 minutes. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Food was okay - you can't expect too much out of cheap chinese food in Harlem/Washington Heights. I wasn't wowed but I knew what I was getting. However, what will discourage me from ordering her again is the service. The delivery man - and who I'm assuming is an owner - yelled at me for "ordering too early", then before I could hand him the tip (which I was giving in cash) he yelled at me for not leaving a tip. Okay food and rude service, this place isn't worth it.

Good sushi. Delivered on time
Posted a year ago by Candice H.
The delivery came within the noted timeframe of 30-45 minutes, and the food was fine. Not remarkable, but fine. I, however, wouldn't order from here again because the deliveryperson was incredibly rude -- refused to say who he was in the intercom (I asked twice if he was from Nikko before he finally yelled, "Yes!"), told me that I wasn't writing my signature fast enough as he tapped his foot and placed my food on the ground, then left my small building (3 apartments) and refused to close the front door to the street. I literally had to run after him to ask that he close the door. I've called Nikko to get my tip back. This was my first and last order.
Posted a year ago by Kimberly O.
The food is actually pretty good, but they definitely have terrible logistics as far as delivering goes. Forget about 30-45 minutes. The first time I ordered from them I had to wait for about 2 hours. Against my better judgement I ordered from Nikko another time. 90 minutes later I got a call from the restaurant saying that the delivery guy was outside my building. I live on the street level so I went outside to pick up the food which only took me 30 seconds. When I opened the door the delivery guy was leaving. I called the restaurant and they said that they would reach him and call me back. They called me back saying that the delivery guy was circling the block and that he would be right back. It took him 40 minutes to come back. When I finally got my order I asked him what happened. He then told me that the first time he had made it to my place he actually had someone else's order not mine. Needless to say I won't be ordering from Nikko anymore.

Let's count the reasons why you should never order from Nikko.
1. I was quoted at 30-45 minutes and the food took 70 minutes to get here. I didn't realize it took so long to make sushi
2. When the food arrived, I was informed that the delivery guy had been here before, couldn't figure out how to open the door, and left without so much as calling a single time.
3. When I opened the bag, instead of the two rolls of sushi and Gyoza that I ordered, I found a bento box and a miso soup
4. The bento box and soup were cold and soggy.
5. When I called to complain, they said I could keep the error and they are sending out a fresh version of my order. Now, at 108 minutes after I sent out my order, the correct food arrives, but I am told that I must give back the bento box, contrary to what I was told on the phone.
6. When I called back to explain, I was yelled at by the manager, who wouldn't budge, nor offer me a refund, even though I clearly stated that is what I wanted. All of this was somehow my fault.
7. The shrimp tempura roll that did arrive was soggy and cold.
8. I have been in bed all night with food poisoning from this mess.
There you go. Eight reasons why you should avoid Nikko like the plague. I worked in a restaurant that used Seamless and when there is a mistake, this is not how you solve it. Obviously Nikko does not understand the first rule of customer service is that they need to seek return business. Now, they have lost my business in the future, as well as the business of anybody I can rant to, including my five roommates.

I used to love this place but they have REALLY gone downhill recently. Food came over an hour after ordering, after saying it would take 30-45minutes. Then to make matters worse, the delivery guy called me and said he was downstairs. Okay, sometimes my buzzer doesn't work (although in this instance it did) so I can take a drip down the elevator. Not only was he NOT downstairs, he wasn't even at my building. He then didn't even make a move to come inside my building and I had to go OUTSIDE in 20 degree weather to get my food. I regret the automatic tipping function on seamless.
Called the manager to complain and no response from them. I have never been so angry about delivery in my entire life. Never ordering from here again.

Harlem and Morningside Heights have a plethora of Asian restaurants from the sublime to the....well you know what I mean, but Nikko is a rare find. It's Pan Asian cuisine is not only pleasing to different palates, but the food is really good. They use fresh vegetables in all of the dishes (containing vegetables, that is) and much better than the other restaurants in the area - Zucchini, Asparagus, Shitaki Mushrooms are some of the standard fare. And they are really fast! I always order through Seamless for my lunch break and it's usually ready in 10 minutes. They are my go-to for any Asian meal

its pretty good for Habachi style Japanese in the area, not really much else to select from...its not great by any stretch but its good, its dependable and consistent and it gets an extra star for being the only place we can get Japanese grill stuff from.
EDIT - it has really declined badly in the last couple months, not worth it

After I placed my order, an employee from Nikko called to say they had just run out of toro and offered to either give me a credit to my next purchase or order another item. I ordered another item that was slightly more expensive than the toro, but Nikko didn't charge me the difference, which is good customer service, in my opinion. My sushi came in a timely manner and was very good-- the spicy mayo was especially tasty. I will certainly order from them again.

They completely messed up my order. I wrote special instructions and they clearly did not read them. The food was alright but I am really frustrated with them.
Posted 2 years ago by Scott F.
The order was ready for pickup on time, the salad was fine, the sushi was fresh and tasty, and they obeyed my "NO GINGER!!" request properly. Plus it's hard to argue with a three-roll special for less than $12 (including tax). But if you're going to give me those little packets of soy sauce instead of covered plastic containers, as most sushi places do now, you really need to give me something to empty them into. I don't like "pouring" the soy sauce directly over the sushi; it doesn't allow me to mix in the wasabi paste.

We've ordered delivery from here twice now. The food delivered is accurate per our order - we always specify brown rice. Usually something is wrong but not here. This has to be just about the best delivered sushi/sashimi we've ever had. The food is delivered quickly too, within 30 minutes.

This may be the most underrated sushi joint in the city. I typically eat sushi 2-4x per week and once I moved uptown from Midtown I was determined to find a "go-to" place...Nikko was the 5th or 6th place I tried and I've ordered 3 consecutive times since.
I typically get the 18-piece sashimi platter and for $5.50 the standard (tuna+avo/salmon+avo/etc) are a great deal.
